Reaction to England’s World Cup Draw: Trepidation but Optimism

Revenge is in the cards when the Three Lions face the Azzurri, as Cesare Prandelli’s men were a focal point in football news by knocking England out of Euro 2012 on penalties.
The clash with Uruguay will be made all the more interesting due to the presence of controversial Liverpool striker Luis Suarez in the South American nation’s strike force.
Finally, England should not underestimate Costa Rica, who have Premier League players such as Bryan Oviedo and Joel Campbell on their team.
With the draw having the potential to make or break England's campaign, the fans were keen to avoid the likes of Germany, Spain and Brazil, with hope that a manageable group could well be the springboard to a memorable tournament.
Since the draw, there has been optimism in England that Roy Hodgson’s men can make it through to the next stage of the tournament.
There is a common perception that Italy are not the force they used to be. The first game in the group against the Italians is sure to be an important clash, however, with both sides having to overcome the stifling heat of Manaus.
If England can get off to a good start with a win against the Italians it would be a real confidence booster, while containing the likes of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani will be the priority against Uruguay.
With the squad at Hodgson’s disposal, England have every chance of making it through to the next round of the World Cup, but they need to be at their best.
