Oscar: Analyzing Chelsea Star’s Role for the Brazil National Team

The midfielder could be considered just another player in a talented attacking squad that boasts the likes of Alexandre Pato, Hulk, Lucas Moura, Neymar and Leandro Damiao.
Once you take a deeper look, however, it is clear how important the 20-year-old is to the team and how important he could be for the Champions League winners next season.
His opening-round performance against Egypt highlighted this well.
The midfielder was brilliant in the opening half, setting up two goals for Rafael and Damiao, the first of which being a beautiful run and feed for the Manchester United defender. He seemingly has all the time in the world on the ball and can open up a defense at will.
You get the sense that with all the attacking talent around him and throughout the squad, Oscar is one of those players that just holds it all together. He feeds his players well, creates opportunities for the likes of Hulk, Neymar and Damiao and helps the team to play well together.
He is the type of player that every team craves.
Brazilian national coach Mano Menezes understands the importance that Oscar brings to the team, telling the London Evening Standard:
"It is clear that Oscar is a very influential player. He set up a lot of moves and chances for us and I don't want to publicise it too much as our opposition will know about him."
"We need to share the responsibility of creating chances but I was very happy with his performance tonight..."
Similar sentiments were shared by Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo as he reflected on his new signing. On the club's official website (via The Independent), the FA Cup and Champions League-winning manager said:
