Mexico Tops Uruguay and Claims Second FIFA U-17 World Cup Title

This marks the second time El Tri holds the title. The first time was in 2005, when coach Jesús Ramírez led the youngsters to write one of the most important episodes in Mexican football history. Today, it was Raúl El Potro Guitérrez the coach who excelled.
Mexico faced Uruguay at Estadio Azteca, one of the most important forums in the world. There were more than 95,000 people gathered, which set a record for the largest final-day crowd in the tournament's 26-year history. And they were ready to sing Cielito Lindo and shout "Ole" whenever a Mexican taunted a rival.
The first 20 minutes were physical, with no clear opportunities for neither squad. But Mexico wasn't ready to let the dream go away. Carlos Fierro managed to send the ball into the area, while Antonio Pollo Briseño jumped to make contact with the ball and put the score at 1-0.
El Tri started to take over, but Uruguay managed to make some long-distance shots that were either deflected or rejected.
In the second half, Uruguay was more aggressive and didn't concede the midfield. Two shots slammed into the post, a couple more were rejected by the goalkeeper, Richard Sánchez.
Every time Los Charrúas were close to tying the game, the fans pushed and booed constantly. Mexico took advantage of this. Giovanny Casillas killed all Uruguayan hopes in the 91st minute after Arturo González went on a counterattack and served the ball to Giovanny Casillas, who beat Jonathan Cubero for a goal.
