The side's next clash on April 2 will pit El Tri against the United States for the first time since the World Cup qualifying tournament.
This game will be the perfect opportunity to look at the footballers who could make a surprise entry to the World Cup squad for their skills and experience, especially Marco Fabian and Rogelio Chavez.
Rogelio Chavez
This will be the first cap for the 29-year-old. Chavez debuted in 2004 with Cruz Azul, where he spent four years before leaving the club on a loan.
The right-back played in the 2011 Apertura tournament with Pachuca and the 2012 Clausura with Atlas. Immediately after that, he returned to "La Maquina".
Despite his long career, Chavez hadn't been very consistent, which put him as the second choice of then-manager Guillermo Vazquez.
However, Chavez got his big break earlier this year when Luis Fernando Tena took over the team and Gerardo Flores suffered an injury in his right knee.
Chavez has taken over the starting position since the third matchday and has had a fantastic tournament so far.
He is a fierce defender who can also join the attack if needed. This will come in handy in Herrera's 5-3-2 system, which allows the left and right defenders to make runs through their respective flanks.
Chavez is fast and skillful and can be a very valuable asset in set pieces as he has a fantastic long-distance shot.
Ever since Herrera took the job, he has trusted in Paul Aguilar, however the Club America footballer has not been up to his best lately.
