Mesut Ozil Voted Germany’s Player of the Year 2015 Ahead of Thomas Muller

The Guardian reported the attacking midfielder has been given the accolade after his excellent performances for the Germany national team during the year.
Ozil earned 51,000 votes, representing 45.9 per cent of Germany supporters, to take the trophy—which was won by Real Madrid's Toni Kroos last year.
The Germany national team's official Twitter feed congratulated the player on his award:
Cologne’s Jonas Hector finished third behind Ozil and Muller, as the Arsenal player took the honour. The Gunners midfielder ran 92.17 km for the national team in 2015, creating six assists in the calendar year, according to the Guardian.
It is the fourth time Ozil has claimed the award for his country, according to Oliver Platt of Goal, winning the personal accolade three times in a row between 2011 and 2013. Ozil started in all eight of his country's international matches in 2015 and enjoyed five wins—before the November friendly game against France, for which he was omitted.

On top of his quality performances on the international stage, Ozil's form has helped his club side to the top of the Premier League, with Arsenal leading the title race on goal difference from Leicester City after drawing 3-3 against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.
Ozil has seen a dramatic upturn in his consistency for the north London giants in 2015-16. The diminutive 27-year-old has currently created 16 assists in only 20 Premier League performances this term, according to WhoScored.com, and has become the heartbeat of manager Arsene Wenger's title aspirations.
