Jurgen Klinsmann Falls to 1-3-1 as U.S. Head Coach Following 1-0 Loss to Ecuador

Playing for the first time at Red Bulls Arena in front of a boisterous Pro-Ecuadorian crowd of 20,707, the United States statistically dominated Ecuador. The National team registered a 22-9 advantage on shots, 10-5 on corner kicks and 8-4 on shots on goals. Much like Saturday's match against Honduras, the United States failed to capitalize on their opportunities.
"It kind of makes you feel that you put in all that effort and work and you feel like you should be rewarded. But it went the other way and this is very good experience for us. It's important for these players to understand that one little thing can change a game," expressed Klinsmann during the Press Conference.
As a result of Tuesday night's loss, Jurgen Klinsmann is now 1-3-1 as Head Coach. While the loss may be frustrating to U.S. Supporters, they should be pleased by the way the team is advancing the ball and attacking the net. With the absence of injured players Landon Donovan and Stuart Holden, Clint Dempsey and Timmy Chandler have elevated their performance.
"The team tried really hard to do what we asked them to do," said U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann. "We asked them to step it up another notch after the Honduras game and I think they did that. I think we played a brilliant first half and created a lot of chances. We didn't score but we didn't allow anything for Ecuador at all."
"We had to make some changes and we also wanted to give players the possibilities to express themselves and show themselves. Ecuador in the second half got more into the game. They created some chances but never really threatened Tim Howard besides the one beautiful goal they scored."
