Julian Green Will Join US Men’s National Team

According to ESPN's Taylor Twellman, the 18-year-old is set to announce that he has spurned Germany to play for the United States at the international level:
Jurgen Klinsmann, the manager of the U.S. national team, also seemed to confirm that Green will become a part of the U.S. setup on a permanent basis:
Klinsmann hasn't been afraid to pursue either foreign-born or foreign-based players who have never been a part of the U.S. national team but would be eligible to join by FIFA's standards. As a result, players like Jermaine Jones, Timothy Chandler, Aron Johannsson, Fabian Johnson and John Anthony Brooks have been brought into the fold.
Yet Green would have to be considered Klinsmann's biggest success in that respect. The young German has shown a ton of promise with the Bayern Munich youth and reserve teams, and he appeared as a substitute for the senior team in a Champions League match against CSKA Moscow earlier in the season.
According to For The Win's Nate Scott, Green holds dual-citizenship for the United States and Germany. His father is an American who lives in Tampa, Florida, while his mother lives in Germany. FIFA rules allow him to make a one-time change when it comes to his team affiliation, per Scott, so he'll be tied to the U.S. national squad moving forward.
Earlier in the day, Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl reported that Bayern would allow Green to join the U.S. team ahead of its friendly with Mexico on April 2. Green is ineligible to play in that match, but joining the team camp allows him to build some chemistry and continuity with his fellow teammates.
