Germany vs. Algeria Betting Odds Preview, World Cup Prediction

Nearly a third of a century later, Algeria have the chance to exact revenge on half of the teams from the Disgrace of Gijon, as the convenient 1-0 Germany win in 1982 came to be known. Both German and Austria advanced with the 1-0 result, while Algeria were eliminated.
“Seeking revenge and getting it are two very different things, especially when the seeker is an 11-1 underdog to win outright,” said Jack Randall of OddsShark.com. FIFA responded to that 1982 debacle by scheduling group games at the same time to prevent real or perceived problems.
The African nation is making their debut in the round of 16, surprising Russia and South Korea to advance from Group H. Before the tournament began, Algeria had the worst odds to win their group and were one of four teams at 1,000-1 odds or longer to win the World Cup.
Sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark had Germany as the big World Cup favorite in this encounter posted at 3-10 with Algeria at 11-1 and a draw line of nearly 5-1.
Germany have a loaded squad with no obvious weakness, and they are in the round of 16 for the ninth straight World Cup.
One area where the Algerians are overmatched is in the midfield. Bastian Schweinsteiger is the leader of the midfield, and the German squad should dominate the time of possession in this match.
Algeria opened group play losing to Belgium 2-1, but they played great defense for most of the match and look to use that same tactic against Germany.
Germany’s Thomas Mueller is tied with Brazil’s Neymar and Argentina’s Lionel Messi for second in tournament scoring, and the German striker is looking to win the Golden Boot for the second straight World Cup.
