Euro 2012 Odds: Favorite Germany Will Escape Group of Death to Win Tournament

According to PaddyPower.com, Germany has the second-best odds to win Euro 2012 at 3-1. The Spanish are the current favorites at 13-5, while Holland checks in at 13-2. The Germans open the competition on Saturday against Portugal.
To get to the knockout round, Germany will have to escape a group stocked with Holland, Denmark and Portugal. That is an extremely tough road to go down, but given the team's strengths, it can almost certainly get out of the group. Once in the knockout rounds, it can certainly take the title.
In goal the Germans have a great one in Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer. They are also stacked in the midfield and could go with a five-man look in the middle. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sami Khedira will anchor the group, while Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski will provide the attacking push.
Forward Miroslav Klose led the Germans with nine goals during qualifying, but Mario Gomez could end up being the team's leading scorer in the tournament.
Germany reached the final in 2008 where it lost to Spain, but in the run-up to Euro 2012 the team looked unstoppable. The Germans rolled to a 10-0-0 record through qualifying and now appears set to continue that roll through the tournament.
Don't be surprised if Germany ends up winning Euro 2012, even after getting beaten up in the group of death.
