England vs. Costa Rica Betting Preview, World Cup Odds and Prediction

The combination of England having nothing to lose and Costa Rica having little to gain has swayed the betting action in this match.
Costa Rica have been the surprise of the World Cup so far, as they have won their first two matches and are atop the Group of Champions.
Before the tournament, Costa Rica were a huge long shot to win their group, but they can win it with at least a draw against England or if the Uruguay vs. Italy match ends in a draw.
Books monitored by Odds Shark have England as the World Cup betting favorite in this match at 4-5 with Costa Rica at 7-2. The draw line was priced in the neighborhood of 3-1.
Costa Rica are the big underdog for the third straight match, but they won their first two, advancing to the round of 16 for the first time since 1990.
Frank Lampard will get the start in the midfield and be the captain with Steven Gerrard heading to the bench. The Three Lions will also start a few of the younger players, since they are already out of the tournament.
Costa Rica’s defense was impressive in their last group match, a 1-0 win over Italy, and their offense put pressure on the Azzurri the whole match. Bryan Ruiz, who scored in the Italy match, is the player the England defense has to key on.
However, there is a chance he could be on the sideline resting since the squad has already advanced.
England have nothing to lose in this match, and they will be attacking from the outset so they can secure three points and save some face for their disappointing tournament.
England will get the win over Costa Rica, which may have to settle for second place in the group with the loss.
