Champions League: Mixed Fortunes for Porto’s Mexico Pair Herrera and Reyes

It was a one-sided match in the first 45 minutes. Julen Lopetegui's side tried to stop Bayern Munich, but the power of the German squad was simply too much.
The defensive problems started early on the match. Bayern's aerial game helped them secure their first three goals.
Reyes was one of the men who fell short. The Mexican's performance was far from impressive. No wonder why he only spent 32 minutes on the pitch.
It was the centre-back's first Champions League game of the season, and he wasted his chance to make an impact.
We had seen him perform well lately.
With Mexico, he reminded us of the fine defender we saw with America when he faced Ecuador and Paraguay. Last week, he made a start with Porto wearing the captain's armband.
Lopetegui kept his trust in the Mexican, but it didn't work.
Reyes won half of the tackles in which he was involved. Plus, he only made two clearances and one block.
It was a dreadful night for Reyes, who is most likely headed to play with Porto's B-team yet again.
But keep in mind one thing. The defender hasn't gotten as much playing time as he had wished. It's pretty obvious that he lacks continuity, which is more evident when he faces heavyweights like Bayern.
As it has happened with several Mexicans who haven't had the success they expected in Europe, Reyes needs to leave the club if he wants to get back to the playing level he used to have.
On the other hand, we have the best Mexican footballer of the moment.
Herrera keeps amazing with his speed, fine touch and hunger to help his team no matter the scenario.
