2010 FIFA World Cup: Does German Exile Torsten Frings Deserve a Recall?

The group has been so battered and bruised you'd think manager Joachim Low's players were actually going through war in between training sessions.
Germany's National Squad was hit with yet devastating blow today when the team was informed that Stuttgart midfielder Christian Trasch will miss the World Cup due to a sprained ankle sustained on Monday night.
Trasch lasted a mere eight minutes into a friendly against FC Sudtirol before he was helped off the field by the medical staff on hand. After further examination, doctors suggested that Trasch rest his bum ankle for four weeks.
He was expected to make the final 23-man squad.
The list of injuries to date sustained by German midfielders includes captain Michael Ballack of Chelsea, who is also nursing an ankle, Simon Rolfes of Leverkusen who is dealing with a tweaked knee, and now Trasch of Stuttgart.
Joachim Low has already began trying to piece this midfield puzzle back together by nominating Sami Khedira to take the place of Ballack at center midfield.
However, placing Khedira at the center spot has stirred up some questions among supporters.
Many expected Khedira to play defensive midfield, he was fashioned to be just one of the many young stars Germany is hoping to showcase to the world in South Africa.
Skeptical supporters have already begun theorizing who will play defensive midfielder for Germany. Defenders like Phillip Lahm, Heiko Westermann and Jerome Boateng have all been mentioned. Some even fancy seeing central midfielder Bastian Scheweinsteiger being slotted there.
