With the Zurich Classic starting up just yesterday in New Orleans, it’s too early yet to see who is going to win the trophy on Sunday. Still, it’s not too late to make your predictions so you can get your online golf betting ready for this tournament. The question is, who do you think will win?
It was Jason Dufner who won the Zurich Classic last year, but Dufner’s not enjoying the same kind of success he was last year. At last week’s RBC Heritage at Hilton Head, Dufner finished his round placing 35th, and he doesn’t currently look as though he can get his game back by Sunday. Another one of last year’s winners, Ernie Els, who finished runner-up to Dufner, also isn’t as focused as he was last year, not even making the cut for that RBC tournament.
Thorbjorn Olesen, Justin Rose, and Bubba Watson are the most likeliest contenders for this year’s Zurich Classic; and who will take it will largely depend on who can best battle the winds in the Big Easy this weekend and as always, who can stay the most focused.
Olesen’s biggest challenge will come on Thursday, when he needs to become acquainted with the TPC Louisiana that so many of his fellow golfers have already played on. Olesen’s only played four events in the U.S., but he can make a birdie like nobody’s business, and he came in 10 under in the last 54 holes of the Masters, showing that he’s a real contender.
Unfortunately, Justin Rose can’t say the same thing about the Masters. Picked as a favorite going in, Rose tied for 25th in the biggest golf tournament of the year. Still, he was picked to win because his game has been unbelievable this year, with the second best scoring average on the tour (69.3) and the distance of his drives is enough to leave anyone in awe.
Why is Bubba Watson one of our picks? Yes it’s true that his game has been a bit off this year, and he did place 18th in the same tournament last year. But things are different for Watson this time, and on this course. Last year he had just won the Masters, and was still undoubtedly feeling the exhaustion that comes with it. This year he’s eighth in driving averages (300.3) and fifth in birdie average. Plus, he knows the TPC Louisiana course very, very well.
Who do you think will win the Zurich Classic this year? Do you have any of the same picks we do?
