Ko entered the final round with the lead at two under par, but a bogey-free final round was not enough to earn the victory.

Ko needed to play her best golf to secure the win, but even her four-under final round could not hold off Henderson, who shot a six-under 65 to force the playoff, where she eventually triumphed with a birdie.
Henderson made several clutch shots to position herself to win the title.

Henderson was leading in the third round before falling to fourth place to start Sunday. She got herself back into contention thanks to an amazing shot on the 11th hole, which Golf Channel's Randy Mell described:

Ariya Jutanugarn also challenged for the win, as she birdied late to get within one shot of the lead.
At only 19 years of age, Ko is the future of the sport. A win Sunday would have given her a third major win in a row, which would have made her the youngest player ever to do so. Going into the final round, she did not seem to be feeling much pressure, per Yahoo Sports' Ryan Ballengee.
“I don't really think about it when I'm out there playing,” Ko said. “I'm just trying to play my best and trying to hit that shot in front of me. I only know about these records after you guys tell me.”
