Why Brandt Snedeker Is the Hottest Player in the World

He has been so hot that in the first five tournaments he has played this year, he has not finished outside the top 25. He won last week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He also has two second-place finishes and a third-place finish so far this season.
In fact, Snedeker has been on this same roll since the end of last year. In the 2012 playoffs, Snedeker finished second in the Barclays and sixth in the Deutsche Bank Championship, tied for 37th in the BMW Championship and followed with a win in the Tour Championship, which led to him to being crowned as the 2012 FedEx Cup champion.
Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Luke Donald all are currently ahead of Snedeker in the Official World Rankings, but are they better than Snedeker right now?
McIlroy made a controversial switch to Nike equipment only to miss the cut in the one tournament he played in this year. Woods also missed a cut prior to winning at Torrey Pines. Donald is only making his PGA Tour debut this week at Riviera.
However, Snedeker has been in contention in nearly every single tournament he has entered.
How has Brandt Snedeker been able to make this jump to one of the best players in the world? Simple. His ball striking has improved tremendously.
In 2010, when Snedeker’s name would show up on the leaderboard every once in a while, he ranked 84th in driving accuracy and 182nd in greens hit in regulation.
This season, he ranks 15th in driving accuracy and sixth in greens hit in regulation. Combine that with Snedeker’s best skill, his putting, and it is easy to see why Brandt is currently averaging a 68.834 scoring average.
