US Senior Open of Golf 2016: Friday Leaderboard Scores and Highlights

Here is what the leaderboard looks like after Friday's action:
Scioto Country Club usually plays as a long course, given its total distance of 6,960 yards. But due to the blustery conditions, the wind made those long holes shorter.
With the difficult gusts along with the heat, only seven golfers kept their overall scores under par Friday.
Sindelar put up the top score of the day at four under. A clean back nine, which is where he started his second round, saw him record two birdies before adding another on No. 2 after the turn.
A bogey on No. 5 dropped his score momentarily, but he came back strong with birdies on Nos. 6 and 7. The USGA showed his approach on No. 6, which set up an easy birdie putt:
Billy Mayfair is one stroke back after going three under Friday.
A strong front nine saw him record three birdies before a bogey on No. 13 provided the only blemish of his day.
He was able to collect one last birdie on No. 18 to keep himself close to the lead.
Both he and Sindelar talked about their rounds, via the USGA:
Only two other golfers in the top seven put up scores under par Friday: Gene Sauers shot a one-under, and Stephen Ames fired a two-under.
Sauers is alone in third at three under overall, while Ames is tied for fourth at two under.
With low scores coming few and far between, Sindelar and Mayfair have to like their chances moving forward into the final two rounds.
If they can stay in the red Saturday and Sunday, they'll both have a good shot at securing the title at the U.S. Senior Open.
