The 31-year-old is finally a major champion after winning the U.S. Open on Sunday with an overall score of four under par.
But much like Johnson's other performances in major tournaments, it came with controversy, as Johnson's ball moved on the fifth green before he attempted a par putt.
After he reached the 12th tee, USGA officials told Johnson they would review the situation at the conclusion of his round, which ultimately led to a one-stroke penalty
That turned out to not matter, as Shane Lowry, the leader entering the final round, shot six over to fall into a tie for second place at one under overall.

Johnson's win came with plenty of support from his peers.
As the final round continued, many notable names in the golfing world rushed to Twitter to support Johnson and criticize the USGA:
It looked like another string of bad luck for Johnson, who three-putted No. 18 last year to lose the U.S. Open by one stroke. Not only did Johnson play at even par for the rest of the round Sunday, but also no other player made a push at the end.
The win was well-deserved for Johnson, who finally joined the illustrious group of major champions. At 31 years old, there's no better time than now.
