The famous Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, was already going to be an exceedingly difficult test, even without players getting thrown off schedule and knocked out of rhythm.
The rain did soften up the notoriously fast greens at Oakmont, but it wasn't enough to prevent the course from snuffing out some of the sports' biggest stars.
After two rounds, Dustin Johnson is the leader at four under. The third round is just getting underway, so here's a look at the live leaderboard from Oakmont:
Oakmont hasn't been kind to many of the big names out on the course. Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson won't see a third round, with the latter actually marked with a withdrawal because he didn't come out Saturday to complete the disastrous second round he had on Friday, per Fox Sports' Nick Schwartz. Through 16 holes, Stenson had a score of 72 (10-over).
Jordan Spieth is still in the tournament but way back in the pack after two rounds with a score of four over. World No. 1 Jason Day has it even worse at five over after his second round.
The big stars are perhaps wondering how in the world Andrew Landry, ranked 624th in the world, is hanging out at the top of the leaderboard. The 28-year-old Texan shot out to the top with an opening-round 66, only to go bogey, bogey and then double bogey over three consecutive holes midway through his second round and lose his lead.
However, Landry recovered at the end of Round 2 with birdies on Nos. 17 and 18, giving him a confidence boost heading into a third-round final grouping with Johnson and Scott Piercy.
