Martin Kaymer is absolutely dominating at the 2014 U.S. Open, and there are six entire strokes separating him from the rest of the competitors. What’s more, plenty of marquee names like Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner and Lee Westwood missed the cut, so the field isn’t quite as loaded as it was at the start.

Still, there are some notable golfers like Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott who could make a run if Kaymer trips up.

Can Martin Kaymer Keep Up His Historic Pace?



All Kaymer did in the first two rounds was set a U.S. Open record with a total score of 130. Rory McIlroy’s two-round total of 131 from 2011 was very short lived thanks to Kaymer’s brilliance.

Not only did Kaymer tally his second-straight 65, but he played a bogey-free round of golf at one of the most difficult courses on the entire PGA Tour. He hit 12 of 14 fairways, missed only three greens and will win the championship as long as he doesn’t collapse over the weekend.

He even impressed other golfers along the way, as Dustin Johnson pointed out, via Bob Harig of ESPN.com:

He's always been a really good putter. So obviously he's making a lot of putts, and to make putts you have to be hitting good shots. I think obviously, 10 under, his score speaks for itself, he's doing everything well.
