U.S. Open Golf Purse 2014: Final Leaderboard, Total Prize Money and Payouts

As for the next two on the leaderboard, Rickie Fowler and Erik Compton came away with great rounds on the final day to secure a huge purse as well. Though neither were able to contend with Kaymer, they were the only other players to finish under par at Pinehurst.
Here's a look at the final leaderboard following Sunday's action:
The 2014 U.S. Open purse totaled $8,000,000—on par with what it has been the last few seasons, according to PGATour.com.
After Kaymer's career-defining win Sunday afternoon, the German will climb back up the rankings as well as the money list. As for those just behind him, catching the two-time major champion was a daunting task after his play through the first two rounds.

With the 2014 U.S. Open now officially in the books, here's a look at the total payout from the second major of the season.
Kaymer wasn't able to sustain the same success he had on the first two days in the third round, but he still kept his wits about him heading into Day 4.
The German still held a five-shot lead entering Sunday despite his two-over 72 round Saturday. Rather than crumbling under the pressure, Kaymer still found humor in the way he finished out the round, per Sean Martin of PGATour.com:
There was no need for jokes after Sunday's action, with Kaymer pacing the field yet again. While Fowler put together a good round alongside the winner, he came into the day simply contending to remain at second on the leaderboard.
