U.S. Open 2010: Tiger Woods Will Evoke Memories of 2000 Victory

It is no secret that Tiger Woods has struggled this year.
Who could blame him?
With everything he has gone through off the course, combined with his swing inconsistencies, Tiger has every excuse for having a poor start to the 2010 season.
Despite that, Tiger will quiet his critics this weekend, much like he did at Augusta in April.
Pebble Beach is another course on which Tiger has the uncanny ability to perform at a level that is simply unattainable by most players on the PGA Tour.
This course was the sight of arguably his most dominating triumph in 2000, when he shot 12 under par en route to winning by 15 strokes.
He is playing nowhere near his previously dominant form today, but he has the potential to rekindle some of those memories.
So far in 2010, Woods is ranked 113th and 164th in driving distance and driving accuracy, respectively.
This is the week Tiger puts the big stick away.
Pebble Beach will be playing 7040 yards this week, much shorter than most of the courses the PGA Tour visits.
Given the typical windy and sometimes rainy conditions on the west coast, Tiger should go back to using his 2-iron off the tee this week.
Tiger wouldn't be losing any kind of advantage by going iron off the tee.
If Tiger brings back his patented "stinger" tee shot at Pebble Beach, he will challenge for another US Open title.
Once he gets to the putting surface, Tiger should only distance himself from the rest of the field. Woods has been phenomenal on the putting greens this year: His 1.708 putting average would be first on tour if he played enough rounds.
When he won in 2000, Tiger finished in a tie for 6th in terms of putting when he took 110 strokes on the greens.
Everyone believes that Tiger Woods will win again...
