TOUR Championship: Bo Van Pelt Chasing Closure – and Furyk

Bo Van Pelt is working on just that. Not that it matters.
The Ryder Cup is next week and Bo can’t make that cut; but the TOUR Championship ends on Sunday, and Van Pelt could end up taking that trophy.
Van Pelt came in to the final in Atlanta as number 19 of the 30 players, and it would take a serious breakdown from all of the six top ranked players if the Oklahoman should take the FedEx Cup title, but he could win the TOUR Championship with some good old fashion top golf—something he produced most of this Friday with a round of 68.
It could, however, have been a lot better.
Three bogeys and a birdie on the last four holes made sure that Van Pelt took a halt at five-under-par, two shots behind the leader Jim Furyk.
Van Pelt, the only player in the top 5 who is not playing at Medinah next week, is tied for third with Bubba Watson (66); while England's Justin Rose (68) is solo second on six-under-par.
Two weeks ago, disappointed with not being picked for the Ryder Cup team three days earlier, Van Pelt went 64 and 69 in the first two rounds of BMW Championship, but ultimately faded in the weekend with two rounds of 71.
