Tiger Woods Will Play 2015 US Open, Announces Rest of Summer Schedule

Woods noted on Twitter last week that his first action after finishing 17th in the Masters would be The Players Championship in early May. He notched a win at this event in 2013, missing last year because of back surgery.
While not yet in the form necessary to win a major championship, Woods definitely showcased some positive signs at Augusta. His chipping was far more reliable, and the positive emotion was back as he climbed the leaderboard while eventual winner Jordan Spieth was lapping the field.
Playing in more tournaments will be important for Woods. It's something he hasn't been able to do over the past year because of injuries. This schedule is a step in the right direction and should help him improve his current No. 116 ranking.
Of course, the main focus will be the majors. His pursuit of Jack Nicklaus continues, but the lack of progress—no triumphs on the sport's four biggest stages since 2008—is starting to make the five majors needed to take over the record seem like a massive uphill climb.
If Woods can win one of the majors this summer, perhaps that outlook changes. Using the other tournaments to find his best form again should help his cause.
