Tiger Woods: Why the Field Should Fear Tiger Woods in Second Round

Tiger Woods got his 2011 Masters Tournament off to a relatively solid, but unspectacular start. The 34-year-old, four-time green jacket winner hit a one-under 71 in his first round to sit six strokes back of the leaders heading into the second round, and seven strokes back of Y.E. Yang, who has gone three-under through eight holes to take the lead at eight under today.
But, if this year's Augusta field knows what's good for it, they should beware Tiger on Friday. Why? Well, for one thing, Tiger's feeling pretty good, according to ESPN.com.
"I hit a lot of beautiful putts, a lot of beautiful putts," Woods said. "And they were just skirting the edge, so hopefully they will start going in."
"Most of the putts looked like they should have gone in," said Woods, who made a beeline for the driving range after the round. "I felt really good over the putts today and I hit a lot of good ones."
Tiger told ESPN that his newly reconstructed swing was "all systems go", and he seemed not just comfortable, but confident in his ability to rally in this tournament.
The fact is, Tiger's putting has been fantastic, and if that's coming around, this field is in trouble. Woods' biggest issue this year has been that putter, which has betrayed him more often than not, and has been the cause of many of his late-tournament swoons.
If his putter is in good shape, Woods is going to take off today. His first rounds at Augusta have never been great; his four titles came when he shot 70, 70, 70 and 74 on Thursday.
But, perhaps most important to Woods' chances, the golfer seems to have his swagger back, something that was absent before this trip to Augusta.
