Tiger Woods Still Chasing His Own Tail

The record may very well belong to Tiger Woods. He's at about six months now and counting.
After taking time off at the beginning of the season to put his life back together, Tiger made his comeback attempt at a comfortable, familiar spot for him: Augusta National, at the Masters.
He did well there, despite battling his swing all week. The result was a tie for fourth. It seemed that he had caught that elusive tail fairly easily.
Not so fast.
He followed that up by missing the cut at Quail Hollow, something very un-Tiger-like. Chasing that tail again.
Next attempt was at the Players Championship. He played horribly and withdrew, citing a nerve in the neck.
Still chasing it.
After a quick rehab on the neck (an inflamed neck joint), he tried another comeback, this time at Muirfield Village and the Memorial Tournament.
He played okay, finishing in a tie for 19th. Didn't exactly catch that tail, but came a little closer.
So, Tiger heads to Pebble Beach and the U.S. Open next week. This was the site of his record-setting win back in the 2000 U.S. Open. Is this where Tiger finally returns to golf glory and grabs hold of that damn tail?
Don't count on it.
Tiger has not been driving the ball accurately in the four tournaments he has played in this year. Poor driving will not equal success at a U.S. Open course.
His putting and short game seemed to return somewhat as the weekend wore on at the Memorial, so that is a good sign for him. If he can work on the driver throughout the week, he may start to find his game. But not in time to compete at the top next weekend.
