Tiger Woods Shoots 69; Bo Van Pelt Flirts with 59 in Malaysia

Tiger has posted 66-67-69, which equals 11-under par for three rounds on the par-71 Mines Resort and Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
His third round was a microcosm of exactly how he has played all year. After a flawless five birdies on the front nine, he posted a 30 and was among the lead at 14-under par for the tournament. He struggled on the back nine with two birdies, three bogeys and one double for an aggregate of three-over par 39.
A bogey at No. 12 followed by a bounce-back birdie at No. 13 kept him at five-under par for his round. Tiger found a green-side water hazard at No. 14, which resulted in his double-bogey. He got one back on the next hole, but a bogey at No. 16 followed by a three-putt bogey at No. 17 made for a roller coaster five holes and his 30-39-69 is just another indication of his unpredictable golf game.
Third round leader Robert Garrigus had six birdies in his third round but added four bogeys to shoot 69 and fall into a tie with Van Pelt for the lead at 16-under par.
Van Pelt, who won last week in Australia at the ISPS-Handa Perth International, had 11 birdies through 17 holes and just needed a par on No. 18 to be only the sixth player to ever post a 59 in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event.
It wasn’t to be, however. He found a green-side bunker and took three shots to find the hole for a double-bogey at the last for a 62. His nine-under par round got him to 16-under par and moved him 11 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for first place heading into the final round.
