Tiger Woods: Missing Cut at Wells Fargo Latest Setback for Falling Star

Woods has missed the cut at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow after another weak showing on Friday according to NBC Sports:

— NBC Sports (@NBCSports) May 4, 2012 He finished one-over after shooting a 73 and has now shot a 144 through two days, placing him at even par. The cutoff ended up being one-under (via ESPN).
This is the first tournament Woods has played in since his woeful performance at the Masters, and most expected a strong showing after almost a month to tinker with his stroke. Instead, he’s missing the cut for just the eighth time in his career since turning pro back in 1996.
After missing the cut at Wells Fargo in 2010, this marks the first time he has ever missed the cut at the same course twice.
This is all bad news for Woods, who can’t even to catch a break when good fortune comes his way. Today on the par-5 fifth hole, he hooked a shot wide left of the green and the ball went missing. If he couldn’t find it, a lost stroke was in order.
Instead, witnesses told PGA Tour officials they saw the ball land and a fan scooped it up and took off with it. Woods received a free drop and ended up paring instead of losing at least one stroke on the hole.
Not like it really mattered, as Woods failed to land a birdie on the first 10 holes.
After his worst finish at the Masters ever (tied for 40), this is not the way he wanted to come back. Woods has a grand total of one tour win in the past 31 months, and it seems like he is more lost than ever with his game.
With the meat of the PGA schedule on the horizon, Woods has to figure everything out in a hurry or he will be in danger of enduring yet another horribly disappointing season for the third straight year.
