Tiger Woods Memorial Championship: Strong Showing Proves He’s U.S. Open Ready

The U.S. Open is normally the hardest major tournament on the PGA Tour every season because the course is very difficult with challenging pin locations, narrow fairways and thick rough.
Historically, Woods has won three U.S. Open titles in his career, and always seems comfortable taking on some of the sport's most unforgiving courses.
This year's Memorial is being played in Dublin, Ohio, at the Murifield Village GC, which is currently a very hard course to find success at.
Woods' strong showing at the Memorial thus far bodes well for his chances at the 112 U.S. Open in San Francisco's The Olympic Club.
In his first-round performance on Thursday, Woods made four birdies and made only one mistake, which was a double-bogey on 18 that ended his day at two-under par.
He was driving the ball well, not making too many mistakes in his short game and wasn't costing himself strokes with poor putting.
Unless Woods has a very poor second round on Friday, he will make the cut at the Memorial and head into the weekend with a chance to make a real run at the top of the leaderboard.
Woods just needs to concentrate and not try too hard to be perfect each round. He still has enough talent to win tournaments if he stays focused, hits his greens and putts well.
Woods' play at the Memorial thus far is encouraging, and it's a good sign for him as he heads to the U.S. Open in just a few weeks time.
