Tiger Woods Injury: How Latest Setback Will Hurt Comeback Attempt

After not finishing the last seven holes at Doral, Woods received good news that he could resume playing next week. However, the veteran should learn his lesson after missing so much injury time over the past few years.
The Masters is only a few weeks away. If Woods did not feel strong enough to finish the back nine on Sunday, there is no reason to rush a quick return and risk further injury.
As of two weeks ago, it seemed as though fans were ready to see the Tiger of old. He finished the Honda Classic tied for second after shooting a 62 in the final round. Finally, Woods was putting it all together, showing that he still has the talent to succeed.
Unfortunately, the latest injury will once again force him to adjust what he is able to do on the course. Even if it is only a mild strain of the Achilles, Woods will still have to be careful when putting weight on that leg.
This can change his ability to maintain a consistent swing that has been working well for the past few months, truly showing his resurgence in Australia at the Open and President's Cup.
Golf needs a healthy Tiger Woods. There are plenty of talented athletes on tour, but no one draws the type of excitement that Woods provides.
The latest setback is currently considered minor, but the entire sport could be headed back in a downward spiral if the problem lingers.
