Tiger Woods: How Does Tiger’s Big Friday Impact Rest of the Field?

The collection of golfers this week at Augusta National are the greatest in the world. For years, they have faced enormous pressure, standing on the tee, or in the sand, or over a critical putt. So is it conceivable that they'll just fold like a lawn chair at the sight of Tiger Woods?
To hear and of the experts say it, the answer is yes. To hear the players say it, the answer is no.
“I don’t really care what anyone else does," Rory McIlroy said after Friday's round. "I don’t need to know. It will be great for the tournament if he’s up there, but I’m two shots ahead (of the field, three in front of Woods and Korean KJ Choi) and I’m in a better position.â€
It's not the presence of Tiger Woods that should worry McIlroy, Jason Day, Alvaro Quiros, or anyone else, but the way he's playing, and in particular the way he finished.
Woods charged the golf course yesterday during the second half of his round unlike we've seen in a long time. He hit birdied seven of the last holes to pull into third place on the leaderboard.
But more to the point, was the way he played the 18th on Friday. With his alley to the green somewhat blocked by trees on the right side of the fairway, Woods launched a remarkable approach then nailed a tricky birdie approach. It was almost a flashback to the end of his third and fourth round performance of the last major he won, the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines.
Everyone on the Tour has enjoyed a nice vacation from Tiger since then. It would seem that the vacation is over.
