Tiger Woods: Disappointing Showing at Barclays Just Part of 2012 Letdown

Tiger Woods is sitting in a familiar setting at the Barclays after hitting a one-over-par 72 in the third round. He's sitting in a tie for 10th place, with notables like Phil Mickelson and Louis Oosthuizen at minus-four.
This has been the epitome of his year, though. He has been getting off to solid starts early on in his tournaments, and the Barclays performance hasn't been any different. He started out the first two days with a three-under 68 on day one, and then a two-under 69 on day two.
He came into the day just three shots back from leader Sergio Garcia and the current second-place leader Nick Watney. However, he wasn't able to maintain his pace on the course in Farmingdale, NY and has fallen back to 10th place.
Overall, his 2012 year has just been a complete letdown for people watching Tiger. While he hasn't been missing cuts like he did in 2011's PGA Championship, he also hasn't won a major tournament since 2008 and has even had trouble in 2012 winning minor ones.
In almost every major tournament, he starts out extremely strong only to choke on Saturday or even Sunday when he has a shot to win. He has finally gotten back to winning tournaments this year, as he has won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial Tournament and the AT&T National.
However, the expectations were going to be that Tiger was back after the personal turmoil and injuries he has seen over the past few years. Most notably including the switch to a new swing coach in 2010 and firing longtime caddy Steve Williams in 2011.
Tiger has been improving in 2012, but he has yet to live up to the high expectations for him to return to the form that led him to win 14 major championships in his career.
