Tiger Woods: Decision to Sit American Star for Foursomes Will Destroy His Psyche

Tiger will sit out the session, according to ESPN.com's Bob Harig. The United States leads 5-3 after the opening day of the 39th Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club.
This weekend marks the first time in Woods' career that he has missed a Ryder Cup session, and it comes just a day after he lost both of his matches with teammate Steve Stricker. Clearly Tiger is not the most confident American on the squad this fall.
But U.S. captain Davis Love III has only compounded the problem by displaying little belief in Woods.
Here's Love's reasoning behind his decision to sit Tiger out after Friday (via Harig):
"We just don't want guys to be worn out. We need Tiger and Steve in the afternoon (Saturday). We need Tiger and Steve on Sunday (in singles)."
Although Love's point would be solid if it were pertaining to any other golfer on the United States team, it's absolutely nonsensical when applied to Tiger Woods.
Tiger may be injury prone, but he's more fit than any other golfer at Medinah, that's for sure. Love's decision will only push a damaged psyche closer to the brink.
Tiger has routinely fallen apart and come unglued on the weekends at recent tournaments, and we've witnessed his swing and confidence consistently fade away as the day transitions from Friday to Saturday.
It's hard to imagine today's Tiger bouncing back from a psyche blow like this one.
It's a three-day event and rest is simply not an option. If Tiger had cruised on Friday, then no way Love makes the move to sit him on Saturday. And Woods knows that.
