Tiger Woods at World Challenge 2012: Day 1 Highlights, Analysis and More

Woods, a five-time winner of the World Challenge, finds himself tied with Bo Van Pelt and Webb Simpson in fifth place, shooting a two-under opening round of 70.
He sits three shots behind tournament leader Nick Watney, who shot a five-under 67, and one shot behind Keegan Bradley, Jim Furyk and Graeme McDowell, who are all tied for second place with opening rounds of 71, three-under par.
The tournament host wasn't pleased with how things went for him in the opening of his tournament, but he realizes that things could have gone far worse (h/t USA Today):
"I didn't hit the ball very good and made a few good par putts to keep the round going. I could have easily shot myself out of the tournament, but I kept myself in it."
Woods shot par through the first nine holes of the tournament before sinking birdies on the 11th and 13th holes to begin his ascent up the leaderboard.
Brandt Snedeker, who had three victories on tour this season, finds himself in last place, eight shots off of the lead. After shooting par on the front nine and finding himself two-under par through 11 holes, things fell apart.
He'd bogey the 12th hole, double bogey the 13th and bogey the 14th to put himself two over par. Another bogey, his fifth of the day on the 18th, put him alone in last place,
Tiger, who hasn't won an event since the AT&T Open in July, would certainly love to take home his sixth victory as host of the World Challenge.
While the event doesn't count as an official win, it awards world ranking points.
