Tiger Woods: A PGA Championship Pairing With Vijay Could Help Tiger

Woods has traditionally played some very good rounds when paired with the veteran Singh. Perhaps, it is a favorable pairing that can get Woods out of the miserable funk he finds himself in on the golf course.
Woods will also be grouped with the defending champion Y.E. Yang, who did something a year ago at Hazeltine that no one else has ever done—beat Tiger Woods in a major when Tiger was leading going to the last round.
Woods held a two shot lead last year heading to the last 18 and victory seemed a formality.
Instead, the virtually unknown South Korean stared Tiger down and destroyed him on Sunday. And this was "pre-scandal'' Tiger. No small accomplishment for Yang.
How things have changed in a year. Not only would we now expect someone like Yang to beat Tiger on Sunday, but we'd be surprised if Tiger was anywhere near the hunt.
Woods and Singh have been paired up together 25 times over the years. The first time was the 1998 Tour Championship, when Singh bettered Tiger by 12 shots (Woods 75, Vijay 63).
But since then Tiger has bested Singh in 19 of 24 rounds, including the last four and seven of the last eight.
Woods is comfortable playing with Vijay. I think not only does Tiger respect him, but Singh calms him as well. With the erratic game Tiger is putting on display right now, this can only help. A fast start at Whistling Straits is exactly what Woods needs.
Between Woods, Singh and Yang they have seven PGA Championship titles. Woods four, Singh two and Yang the one.
