Jason Day earned his second wire-to-wire championship of the 2016 season as he took home The Players Championship title on Sunday.
The No. 1 player in the world recorded a one-under 71 during his final round at the TPC Sawgrass and led by no less than two strokes throughout the 18 holes.
Day stumbled a little bit in the middle of his round as he bogeyed the sixth and ninth holes, but he responded with a birdie at the 10th hole to shift the momentum back in his favor.
As the players behind him jockeyed for position, Day extended his advantage with birdies on the 12th and 16th holes.
Kevin Chappell used a late surge to claim second place at 11-under, while 47-year-old Ken Duke finished in a tie for third alongside Justin Thomas, Matt Kuchar and Colt Knost. Thomas had the best round of the day as he shot a seven-under 65.
The win was the third of the PGA Tour season for Day, who has won seven of the last 17 tournaments he's entered.
