The Masters 2010: A Caddy’s Tales of Today and Yesterday

With the advent of spring upon me and the weight of two golf bags resting on each shoulder, I've had the time to think about some things over the past three days.
Back on the verdant grass of another golfing sanctuary assuming my other self as caddy to the well off, you get to thinking about time and its passing.
For as long as I'd like to forget, I've been traipsing around under the guise of helping others get more out of their respective rounds. All in an attempt to help make ends meet, a teacher does what he can on off days and bright summer days with the gleam of shinier cars looming just out in front of the club's majestic clubhouse.
It gets mighty easy to feel sorry for yourself.
And so it is that I find myself back in the saddle during this year's spring break from poetry, short stories, and novels.
My mother would tell others that as a kid, I'd be content to play with a clothespin in the corner. That it didn't take much to entertain me has always been a source of pride for me. In my mind, unfortunately, I'm plagued with a nagging sense of what could have been however.
As witness to years of sporting events, it becomes tougher to separate the good old days (which my friend Chuck reminded me were never as good as we thought) from the sense of creeping cynicism which inevitably finds its way into the souls of the tortured.
But I'm trying.
With the help of readers of my articles of yore, something is stirring inside me.
One reader in particular.
TideFanAtlanta of right here on Bleacher Report has renewed in me the force of a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "if we are related, then we shall meet through these words."
