I must confess, to say I witnessed Ernie Els sweet victory at Doral would be nothing but a bold faced lie. I instead had the esteemed pleasure of pumping out water from my basement for almost 40 consecutive hours. Sweep the water. Vacuum the water. Pump the water. Repeat…25,000times! Lots of others had it worse than I, so I’m now done complaining. Yet again, none of our guys hit even a tie for fifth in EITHER tournament last week. It’s so crazy when I start picking my six guys. I have a spreadsheet, and I start highlighting guys I like that week. Sometimes I have upwards of fifteen golfers, sometimes I don’t. Last week I had nine highlighted golfers. Simple math tells us we need to subtract three. Two of those three, I crap you not, were none other than Ernie Els AND Charl Schwartzel! From now on the very last sentence of my article will detail my honorable mention candidates that did not make the cut into the six pack. Congrats Ernie! What a great victory for you, and what a great experience for Schwartzel to play alongside you. After all you are his idol. Now we are off to the hills of the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Country Club in Palm Harbor, FL. Yes I said, “Hills.” There aren’t many hills in Florida, and I think that the Copperhead Course may have over 70 percent of the state’s total hills, on its pristine fairways. That will make for some difficult lies, contributing to the fact that this played as the ninth hardest stop on tour last year. Yahoo fantasy was pretty status quo last week. I now have 1593 total points. I am still leading Arkush and Vara. I still trail Romig and Planer, but not by much. In my FOHM group I bumped up one percentage point to the 77th percentile. Overall I remained the same sitting calmly in the 83rd percentile. Here’s my selection for this week, which I expect to be fantastic.
