The leader board is as follows: Steve Stricker -25, Jeff Maggert -19, Paul Goydos -19, Matt Jones -16, Shaun Micheel -15, Brendon De Jonge -15.
Steve Stricker grew up in this area, loves this course, and is also playing where he spent his college golf years. Game, set, match.
The fans are rooting him in, so expect a 65 or 66 tomorrow as Stricker collects the winner's check and trophy.
Jeff Maggert or Paul Goydos need a 60 or 61 to have a chance, which in reality is possible with the lift and clean conditions after rains earlier in the week at this TPC Course, in Silvis Illinois.
Much of Iowa and Illinois was drenched over last weekend from heavy storms and rain sweeping through the area.
Still, Stricker can shoot 63 to 65, and this tournament is his for the second straight year.
Stricker is my A-player in Yahoo Fantasy Golf, and JJ Gallant and I are reaping the profits this week. I believe Stricker was in the weekly six pack as well.
My other fantasy player is Tim Clarke, who is at a great -10 for the tournament but what!? Fifteen shots behind?
I am somehow picking up ground on the one Yahoo Expert I am still trying to pass, with just two players left this week. It is helping with Stricker keeping the lead.
I will briefly cover the final round tomorrow, just to record which holes Stricker birdies on his way to victory.
I imagine by the time the CBS telecast starts someone will be up -20 to -22, but the final two groups are the only ones that have about a one in 100 chance of catching Stricker tomorrow.
By the back nine, Stricker could be setting a new PGA Tour ...
