Senior British Open 2012: Fred Couples Set for Comeback Win at Turnberry

Couples' Open Championship got off to an ominous start, as he posted a two-over par round of 72 in Round 1 on Thursday. He scored a double-bogey on the third and ninth holes and never recovered.
Couples has improved every day since then.
He shot a nice two-under 68 on Friday, posting four birdies compared to two bogies. He followed that solid performance with an absolute masterpiece on Saturday, shooting a round of six-under par 64, with seven birdies and one bogey.
As we've seen so many times from Couples in the past, he goes through stretches where he can't seem to find his rhythm. During those times, he struggles mightily to post low scores, as do we all under the same circumstances.
But, when Couples gets hot, he really gets hot. That's what we're seeing from him this weekend, and another round like the one he posted on Saturday will earn him his second major championship as a senior golfer.
Couples spoke to reporters after his blazing-hot 64, via the Washington Post: "It was a very, very good day. Once I got going, I didn’t miss many shots. I hit my irons solid and when I hit them close, I made the putt.”
The going won't be easy, though. According to the PGATour.com, Langer has won nine of the 12 Champions Tour tournaments he's played in when leading after three rounds.
If anyone can bust that trend, though, it's Boom Boom—especially when he's hot like this.
