Ryder Cup 2012 Results: USA Stays Productive on Saturday Despite Tiger Woods

It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it makes it difficult for Ryder Cup blame and praise to be distributed equally, which is surely a mild distraction, at least.
Woods sat out the early session, and it caused a lot of speculation, criticism and drama.
With the absence of a key teammate thoroughly shoved down their throats, Team USA surely felt the need to stay focused and remain productive, which is exactly what they were able to do.
In the morning session without Woods, USA was able to nearly mop the floor after dropping just one of the four early matches.
The only USA tandem to lose in the early session was Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson, who shot a 74, while challengers Ian Poulter and Justin Rose were able to narrowly get away with a 73.
The afternoon session was not as favorable for USA, but they were able to avoid hurting themselves after taking two out of four matches.
Watson and Simpson were able to redeem the morning loss with an afternoon victory against Rose and Francesco Molinari.
The other afternoon victory was earned by Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar, who won by a single stroke after shooting a 67.
Woods returned in the afternoon and partnered with Steve Stricker. The tandem finished with a 65 and nearly made a comeback after Woods shot three birdies on the final five holes.
Overall, it was a productive day for the USA, who will be looking to take home the gold trophy for the second time out of the last three Ryder Cups.
And while the team is capable of winning on their own, USA could certainly use a big day from Woods to close out the tournament.
