Rory McIlroy Is 1 Behind Peter Hanson at the BMW Masters in Shanghai

Rory’s third round included one bogey and four birdies for 36+33=69. Hanson, who took the lead after the second round with a brilliant 64, maintained a one-shot lead over McIlroy with his two-under par 70.
Even though McIlroy struggled through the middle of the year, he collected four wins on the PGA Tour in 2012. He won the Honda Classic in March and the PGA Championship in August. He added two wins during the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the Deutsche Bank and the BMW Championships.
Rory has already secured the PGA Tour’s money title for 2012. He currently leads Justin Rose for the European Tour’s money list, the Race to Dubai. He would become only the second player to win the money titles on both the PGA and European Tours in the same year. Luke Donald was the first just last year. (Tiger Woods has accomplished this feat on numerous occasions but was never an official member of the European Tour.)
There are four very strong golfers lurking withing striking distance of the leaders. Luke Donald has quietly shot 70-67-68 for 11-under par. Justin Rose and Charl Schwartzel are also at 11-under par and tied with Donald in fourth place.
Former U.S. Open winner Graeme McDowell is just one more shot back at 10-under par and played very nicely.
With so many top players at the top of the leader board, it promises to be a fantastic finish on Sunday in Shanghai.
