Presidents Cup 2013 Results: Biggest Surprises from Exciting Tournament

Team USA has only tasted defeat one time in this biennial event since it began in 1994.
To find surprises, I'm turning my attention to the individual golfers, and there were certainly a few of those.

Brandt Snedeker
I was surprised at how poorly Brandt Snedeker played at this event. At the start of this year, Snedeker was the hottest golfer on the planet. He cooled off from that streak after missing time with an injury, but he was playing solid entering this event.
He was eighth at the BMW Championship and 20th at the Tour Championship.
Snedeker won two of the teammate events and lost two. He was then destroyed in singles play, as he lost 6 and 4 to Jason Day.
Snedeker struggled off the tee for much of this event, but it was his work with the flat iron that really bothered me.
On the whole, Snedeker is a wonderful putter. However, he can lose that touch when the pressure is on. He finished 4-of-6 rounds with .284 strokes gained-putting or worse.
It was a disappointing showing for a player with the talent to be one of the game's best.
Brendon de Jonge
Brendon de Jonge has had a solid, yet unspectacular career. His one PGA win came in 2012. This year, he didn't have a PGA finish in the top three but did have four top 10s.
Considering the talent level at this event, little was expected from de Jonge. However, he definitely held his own. He teamed up with Ernie Els to split his four partner matches.
