Presidents Cup 2011: Tiger Woods’ First Win Will Help End His Struggles

Woods and Dustin Johnson defeated Adam Scott and K.J. Choi 3&2 to help the Americans complete a successful day on course.
Woods reflected on the day, via ESPN.
It was a day of patience. The weather was kind of iffy, the greens are another different speed. They've got some pretty good, little tricky pins. I felt Dustin and I were playing well. We just kept putting on the heat, and eventually one would fall.
Woods helped the USA take a 11-6 lead in the event and inch closer to winning another Presidents Cup.
The win for Woods will give him some of the confidence he needs to do well for the rest of the Presidents Cup and into next season.
Tiger still has the talent to be one of the top golfers in the world, he just needs to be mentally right. Golf is a game of focus and patience, and while watching Woods on Saturday it was clear that he is more patient than he has been recently.
He is trusting his skills and, more importantly, his swing.
Woods' 20-foot putt to close Saturday's match on the 16th hole was a massive lift for him. Being able to close out rounds with strong putting was a staple of Tiger's game when he was nearly unbeatable.
If he can continue to putt well and have the patience to rush his skills and his swing, he will win another major.
After all he's gone through on and off the golf course in recent years, it is going to take time for him to come close to his former greatness.
Saturday's win was a step in the right direction for Tiger.
