Presidents Cup 2011: International Team Will Knot Up Score on Friday

This year, the US has a 4-2 lead after Thursday Foursomes. However, the Europeans’ only win was a big one. Adam Scott and K.J. Choi embarrassed Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker by a 7 and 6 score.
In 2009, Stricker and Woods went undefeated at the event, so the lopsided loss came as a surprise to many. The duo has been split, according to the ABC Grandstand Sport Staff.
The US has taken home the last three Presidents Cup trophies and is 6-1-1 overall in the competition. However, the US has never run away with the title in the second day. Instead, when they’ve held the lead after Day One, the International golfers tend to storm back.
In the only win for the International team in 1998, they routed the US right of the bat. The win came when two events were played in both of the first two days, and singles were held in the third and final day.
After the first day, the International team led 7-3. They raced to a 14.5-5.5 lead after four events, having all but clinched the tournament going into the individual play.
The US will struggle to find their swagger in Friday Fourball.
Past results prove that the team that’s behind generally makes some type of charge in Day Two. The new duos of Woods and Dustin Johnson, and Stricker and Matt Kuchar will struggle to gel—both in losses.
The International team will take two more matches on the day, and a 4-2 win in Fourball to tie up the overall score.
