Pre-Open Fed Ex Cup Standings: Will Top Ten Stay That Way?

Some players on the bubble of the Fed Ex Cup point standings are starting to worry as hot players are on their heels, and perhaps the chance for a $10 Million dollar prize vanishes.
Your current points leader is Ernie Els, the winner of two tournaments and numerous high finishes. He has 1,751 Fed Ex Cup Points.
I expect Els will have a decent time at St Andrews, but is not a fantasy pick this week.
In the number two spot is Steve Stricker after his win at the John Deere Classic. Stricker has 1,561 points.
Stricker is my back-up to Tiger Woods this week at the Open.
Justin Rose is third. Who knows, after this week he could be No. 1. Rose has 1,542 points.
Rose is my C-player in fantasy this week at the Open.
Number four in the points is Phil Mickelson. From week to week, we never know quite what to expect. Mickelson is brilliant, or ordinary. Not much in between. Mickelson has 1,521 points.
Jim Furyk sits in fifth. He won a couple events early, and is now tuned up for the last two major. Furyk has 1,479 points.
Number six belongs to another winner this season in Tim Clarke. He is my back-up to Justin Rose in fantasy this week. Clarke has 1,280 points.
The first five golfers in this list will be hard to bump down any further, but there are plenty of chances to get into the top 130 or so by playoff time for other hopefuls. Then you have to get hot.
In the seventh spot is Ben Crane, who I have used a bit in fantasy this season. I have found using players on the Top Ten of the Fed Ex Cup point standings gets you success, sometimes.
Crane was in the C-player spot and has done well this season. Crane has 1,222 points.
