Entering Sunday's final round, Sergio Garcia marked the lone golfer within striking distance who has won the Players before in his career. Other than that, the leaderboard is sprinkled with foes who have just a few short PGA Tour victories—or less than that, in some instances—to their credit.

Move Over, Jordan Spieth—Justin Thomas is Coming
The top of the Players leaderboard is littered with golfers trying to prove they can be dangerous contenders week in and week out. But when a youngster comes around and plays with the best in the business, it's hard not to project the possibilities.
Prior to this weekend, one could read that sentence and attribute it directly to one Jordan Spieth. But while the 21-year-old missed the cut at TPC Sawgrass, 22-year-old Justin Thomas is more than picking up the slack.
The PGA Tour rookie—yes, rookie, with 17 career starts—dominated Moving Day with a round of 65, which put him two strokes shy of the lead and tied with Sergio Garcia. Thomas also broke the course's record for birdies in a round, carding 10 of them Saturday, per PGATour.com's Mike McAllister.
"One of the best rounds I've ever played in competition," Thomas told McAllister.
As if his dominance Saturday wasn't enough, he even managed to hole one of his worst shots of the day, as Sean Martin of PGATour.com noted:
