Players Championship 2013: Golfers Who Could Pull off Shocking Victory

Other known golfers like Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson and Hunter Mahan all played well and saw their scores among the top 10, but nobody was better than Roberto Castro, who shot nine-under and found himself in the top spot heading into today's round.
But while we know the golfers at the front, other lesser-known golfers are making a play to pull off a shocking victory at one of golf's biggest events of the year.
Charles Howell III
Howell has had a decent 2013 PGA Tour season. Although he has four top 10 finishes, he also missed two cuts as well, both coming in two of his last three tournaments.
Howell shot a one-under 71 yesterday and found himself near the projected cut line. He did more than play just to make the cut; he is currently finishing his second round, shooting four-under through 15 holes. If the score stands, Howell will find himself tied for 11th place, five shots behind Castro moving into the weekend.
Brandt Snedeker
Snedeker has improved his game tremendously over the past couple of years and now finds himself a threat to win every tournament he enters. Earlier in the season he finished in the top three in four out of the five tournaments he played in.
But after getting off to a hot start in January and February, Snedeker has cooled off quite a bit. He missed two cuts to begin his March, finished poorly on the final day of the Masters and came in 59th at the RBC Heritage. After shooting one-under in the first round of the Players Championship, he came into today needing to put together a good round.
