PGA Tour: Can Rickie Fowler Get His First Win in New Orleans?

Fowler did win last fall in Korea on the OneAsia Tour for his first professional win, but that doesn’t count here in the states.
Fowler won everything as an amateur, was a stand out collegiate player at Oklahoma State and was 7-1 in two Walker Cup appearances.
He was named the 2010 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, has won over $6 million in prize money and has been paid millions more from his sponsors, Cobra and Puma.
Because of his boyish looks and modern golf attire, he has a huge following from younger golfers around the world.
There have been flashes of brilliance from Fowler, but he has just not been consistent enough for four days to get that first win.
He was in contention and turned in an excellent performance at the 2011 Open Championship. His days of playing in high winds and bad weather in Stillwater have served him well.
He also has top-10s in two of the World Golf Championship events. He is not afraid of the spotlight or pressure that comes from being at the top of the leaderboard. He just has not been able to catch the brass ring.
On Friday at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Fowler turned in a stellar seven-under-par 65. His round moved him into T-11 and he is only four shots behind Jason Dufner.
Sunday’s final round could come down to Dufner and Fowler who are both seeking their first PGA Tour wins.
Maybe this will be Rickie’s week. Oh, Oh, Oh, Rickie.
