So far this year, we have seen three first-time winners, including some upset performances, dominant showings and memorable final rounds. Although the final major of the year is often overlooked compared to the other three, it still has the potential to create some exciting moments thanks to a loaded field and interesting storylines.
Here is a look at what you need to know heading into the weekend of the PGA Championship.

It will be tough for fans to recover after one of the top finishes to a major in years just occurred at The Open Championship.
Phil Mickelson shot a 65 on Sunday to finish at 17 under par for the tournament, which would have been good enough to win in most years. However, it was Henrik Stenson who stole the show with a final round of 63, putting him 20 under for the week.
ESPN's Mike Greenberg gave high praise to Stenson's individual showing:
Meanwhile, the duel between the two in the final pairing was as good as anything the sport has seen in decades. Even Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson put it up there against their famous "Duel in the Sun" in the 1977 British Open, according to Jimmy Roberts of NBC Sports:
The difference between second and third place in 1977 was 10 strokes. The difference between Mickelson (second place) and J.B. Holmes (third) this time around was 11.
