The American will have to fend off a star-studded pack of fellow contenders in order to claim the Wanamaker Trophy. Adam Scott, Matt Kuchar and Jim Furyk are just two strokes off the pace. And there are plenty of players who can get back in the mix if they go low on Saturday.
It sets up for an exciting weekend at the season's final major. Let's take a glance at where the top players stand right now, followed by an examination of some top storylines to watch throughout moving day at Oak Hill.

Top Storylines for Day 3
Will Jason Dufner maintain his lead?
Dufner splashed in an eagle from the fairway on the second hole and he was off and running. He knocked home five birdies over the remaining 16 holes and didn't drop a single shot en route to a 63, tying the major championship record.
While it was an extremely impressive round to put him in prime position to capture his first major, the work has only just begun. Unless Oak Hill toughens up over the weekend, he's going to need two more low scores to capture the title.
It starts with reversing a troublesome Saturday trend. In the first three majors of 2013, Dufner's average score on Day 3 was just shy of 75. If he even comes within a few strokes of that number, he'll likely watch the field fly right by.
